Push towards Pinehurst?

While Sunday at the Wyndham was the last chance for many to make the 144 player field for the PGA Tour’s “playoffs” starting next week at The Barclays, it was a different kind of final tuneup for Danny Lee, the world’s top ranked amateur from New Zealand. Lee’s final round 69 on Sunday left him at 12-under, a bit behind the leaders but good enough for quite a hefty check had he been a pro. Lee will now make a short drive to the Pinehurst Resort & Country Club and tee it up as a heavy favorite in the nation’s oldest golf championship–a week long grind among 315 players. After a summer of strong play, including a recent win at the Western Am, Lee is brimming with confidence, writes Joedy McCreary.
